How do I contact the works council?

Updated Reading time: 2 min

On this page

The works council is there for all employees. In the Works Council section, you can contact them with concerns, suggest topics, view office hours, and read published works agreements. Which of these options are available depends on which sub-areas are activated in your company.

Info

You can submit concerns and topic suggestions as soon as the works council is set up in the platform and has members. Until then, the section will notify you of this.

Submit concerns (§§ 84, 85 BetrVG)#

  • Using a form, you can submit complaints, questions, and suggestions to the works council, optionally anonymously.

  • The chair and deputy are notified. The works council processes your concern and responds.

  • You can see the response in the platform and receive a notification; the email only shows the subject.

  • For anonymous concerns, there is no feedback.

Suggest topics (§ 86a BetrVG)#

  • You can suggest topics to the works council and support others' suggestions.

  • Who supports a suggestion remains invisible; only the number is visible.

  • Once a suggestion receives five percent support, the works council must add it to the agenda within two months.

Office hours (§ 39 BetrVG)#

The time and location of the works council's office hours are visible to all employees.

Read works agreements (§ 77 BetrVG)#

  • Published works agreements appear in the platform's legal catalog.

  • In the wiki, under the "Works Council" page, each agreement has its own page with the file.

  • Kai answers your questions about the published works agreements.

Confidentiality#

  • Emails and notifications never include the text of your concern.

  • The works council's content is also not visible to the administration.

  • The works council determines after how many months the platform deletes completed concerns and, for concluded topic suggestions, removes the information about who submitted and supported them (§ 79a BetrVG).
