What can I do in a group?

Updated Reading time: 2 min

On this page

In a group, you work with your team on a shared topic: reading and sharing news, writing in the group chat, storing files, planning appointments and tasks. Group admins determine which areas a group has.

How to work in a group#

Open Groups and select the desired group.

At the top, you see the group tabs, such as News, Chat, and Files.

Click on a tab to switch to the respective area.

What areas can a group have?#

Area

What you do there

News

Read, comment on, and react to posts for the group. With the appropriate role, you can write posts yourself.

Chat

Write in the shared group chat with all members.

Files

Store, open, and sort the group's documents and images in folders.

Calendar

View group appointments and, with the appropriate role, create new appointments.

Tasks

Assign tasks to the group and track their progress.

Notes

Record shared notes for the group.

E-mail

Read the group mailbox, if one is set up.

Contacts

Look up the group's external contacts, if the address book is active.

Members

See who belongs to the group and message members directly.

Info

Not every group shows all tabs. Group admins enable or disable areas under Active Areas. Hidden areas retain their content and reappear after being re-enabled.

What am I allowed to do in the group?#

This depends on your group role:

  • Read: Read, like, and comment on content

  • Collaborate: Additionally create posts and edit files

  • Admin: Additionally manage members, roles, and group settings

Why don't I see the "Time Tracking" tab?

The Time Tracking tab only appears for group admins and the HR department if the area is active in the group. You record your own times as usual in the Time Tracking module.
